Wednesday night is Games Night, when couple of good friends and I get together and play games. No, not those sort of games! I mean card games, board games, dice games, traditional games: games where we sit around a table or on the floor, drink lots of very nice wine, and laugh a lot. We came to a mutual agreement some time ago that we were all spending far too much time vegging in front of the telly, and not enough socialising, and this was the answer we came up with.
I have to say, it works for us! We have a fine collection of games to choose from between us now, and it does make choosing pressies so very easy. Well, easy that is until you realise just how many new games come out every year, but luckily there's an excellent games shop on the Cowley Road in Oxford. The owners are very knowledgable about their wares, and we've enjoyed playing the tile game that they recommended last Christmas immensly. In fact, I think I'll suggest that one tonight, or maybe it'll be the pirate card game my friends gave me for Christmas - that one's always so much improved by doing very bad pirate impressions when attacking ships - "Take that, me 'earties, ah-har thar Jim me lad!". You get the picture. I'm sure the wine helps too.
I wonder what I'll be when I grow up?
