Spring is springing and the garden's a-growing. Now, I've had great plans for my garden since I first moved in, oh, a mere 9 years ago. Since then, the wisteria has matured enough to pull down the back fence in a fit of petulance over not having the lovely big pergola to drape its flowers gracefully from that I envisioned. The water feature is still a picture in my head, as is the herb garden other than a few pot-bound specimens. And the patio is still almost but not quite big enough to fit a table and chairs comfortably. As for the outdoor spa... well, a girl's got to dream!
Unfortunately, that's all it is at the moment - a dream. I have at least managed to get the grass cut, courtesy of the lodger - the twisted ankle came in handy for that one! Well, hey, I do most of the housework, so it's only fair *grin* The front lawn could do with a quick going over, but the wild violets that I'm sure I really should weed out look so lovely...
Still, the first of the spring flowers are out (along with the violets), and the slugs are taking it easy on my tulips for a change. There's cherry blossom on the trees, the birds are singing their hearts out (and messing up my windows, but that's another story!), and there are lambs gambolling in the fields.
There's no doubt about it - it's a great time of year, a time for new life and new beginnings! It may be cliched, but it's true. Whenever I go outside I feel a lifting of the spirits. I might be drowning in paperwork, and maybe that helps to encourage me out of the door, but the urge to take strolls into town via the scenic route by the river is no bad thing. And it's great training for the Walk for Life! My head is bursting with ideas and I'm full of enthusiasm for new projects and my re-training in NLP.
The garden might not be exactly how I want it, but it's starting to look lively after the winter lull, and the fence can be mended - hurrah for the spring!
